Dan: Los Angeles.

The agent may ask: What's your final destination? instead of Where are you flying today?

Yes, an agent could say "May I take a look at your passport?" to be more polite.

"Here you are" is a very common used phrase. Nick, could you please give some examples?
Nick<ecotopian7@hotmail.com>
6:09:43 PM
Yes, you can also use "Here you are."  I think this expression is less common on the West Coast of the USA.

Nick<ecotopian7@hotmail.com>
6:16:24 PM
Not really.  It means to have some of your bags put in the storage area of the plane.  A checked bag does not travel with you in the passenger area.

Nick<ecotopian7@hotmail.com>
6:19:00 PM
That's close.  The opposite of a checked bag is a carry-on bag.  Carry-on bags have to be a certain size.  There is a box you can put it in to see if the bag is the right size.

A stopover is when an airplane stops in a different city before going to the final destination.  It's also called a layover or a transfer.
